Oliver Knowlton

Oliver has extensive digital operating experience helping companies through periods of market disruption. He has a particular interest in the nitty-gritty details of improving how companies operate, with a focus on product development, organizational structure, and improving their overall execution and business effectiveness.

He has served as the Vice President of Strategic Planning at Gannett, and as Vice President of Gannett’s Digital Portfolio Group, working on the digital product development for Broadcast, Community Publishing, and USA Today.

Before joining Gannett Digital, Oliver served as Chief Operating Officer for PointRoll, He was the President of OneNews, a venture-backed startup which crowd-sourced content through a location-based mobile app. He worked in the newspaper space as President of MediaNews Group Interactive (Now Digital First Media), managing the interactive division in Denver.

Oliver spent the bulk of his career at Time Inc., where he held a number of leadership roles, including Assistant Managing Editor for Operations for at Time magazine, General Manager of Time Inc. New Media, and ultimately, General Manager at the Sports Illustrated (SI) Franchise, directing finances and operations for Sports Illustrated, SI’s Digital properties, SI for Kids, and Golf Magazine.

At his core, Oliver is a Chief Operating Officer who thrives on managing companies in transition, especially those aiming to achieve renewed growth or pivoting into new business sectors.
