A global top retailer, Best Buy, needed to transform their merchant and product operations to be ready for the new wireless / connected age.
Chameleon Ron Boire was responsible for transforming the companies $30 billion U.S. Business teams, global technology and vendor management, global sourcing and private label development.
He transitioned this Merchant organization from traditional buying function to business domains resulting in Integrated Business Models with vendors and innovation in services. Moreover, he launched an industry leading profitable services business.
This was done by establishing a global private label business and new brands such as Insignia™, Dynex™, inIt™, Geek Squad™ and Razor Fish™ resulting in over 50 bps operating margin improvement for the enterprise.
Ron also established emerging business practices and business development processes for the U.S. operating units. Ron led the purchasing of strategic assets, in telecommunications business and in-home major appliances to expand the client’s capabilities in mobile and high-end appliance businesses. Overall, this improved the U.S. merchant operating margin over 125 bps which left the retail organization in a profitable space.
