About CurlMaps

CurlMaps is a niche online directory/marketplace connecting people with curly hair to salons and stylists who specialize in curl-specific cuts and care, operating across major US cities. The company monetizes primarily through premium/paid stylist listings and appears to be a small, content-driven lead-generation platform rather than a booking or…

The Challenge

Curly Maps, a platform for curly-haired people seeking specialized stylists, was held back by a weak user experience and the lack of a cohesive brand identity, and needed both resolved quickly.

Our Approach

Chameleon Collective used a design thinking process. We started with in-depth stakeholder conversations to capture requirements, constraints, and goals, and ran a competitor analysis to map the landscape. We then moved into wireframes, refined them on feedback, and arrived at a design that fit Curly Maps' identity.

The Impact

The work went beyond a facelift. We built a distinctive, strategic brand, pairing clear visual cues with strong messaging that reflected Curly Maps' values so every curl enthusiast felt seen and understood.
