Challenge
After decades of leading the light therapy category on Amazon, the Day-Light brand began losing momentum in the crowded light therapy space on Amazon. The flagship Day-Light Classic Plus, once a trusted standard in clinical-strength light therapy, had grown outdated in both design and consumer perception. Though it remained a category leader on Amazon and in clinical credibility, the brand was fading in relevance with modern consumers. Growth had slowed, competition was increasing, and the lamp’s dated look no longer reflected the innovation behind its science. Advanced Amazon tactics were not working on keeping the lamp prominent. It was time to reimagine Day-Light for a new generation of users seeking better mood, sleep, and energy.
Approach
Drawing from years of consumer feedback, clinical data, and marketing learnings from the Day-Light Classic Plus on Amazon, we led a complete product reinvention. David assembled a cross-functional team of product management, engineering, sourcing, quality, finance, and customer service to design a brand new lamp from the ground up. The goal: create a modern, sleek, and scientifically validated light that would uphold Day-Light’s legacy while resetting the brand’s trajectory.
Once the new lamp was ready, we placed it in the hands of key media partners and reviewers who had historically shaped consumer opinion in the category. The New York Times tested the product and declared it their #1 rated light therapy lamp, calling it the best light-therapy lamp to treat Seasonl Afffective Disorder symptoms. The #1 influencer in the category, Optimize Your Biology, rated is the "Best Overall" lamp in the category. These endorsements, along with a focused Amazon relaunch strategy and refreshed creative assets, reintroduced the brand to millions of consumers.
Impact
The results were immediate and powerful. The new Day-Light quickly became a best seller on Amazon, reclaiming the brand’s leadership in the clinical-strength light therapy category. It is now the #1 recommended lamp by The New York Times and continues to appear in major publications such as Men’s Journal, VeryWell Health, and CNN for its quality, safety, and results.
What began as a brand at risk of stagnation is now thriving again, anchored by modern design, proven science, and renewed consumer trust. The Day-Light brand has reestablished itself as the leading name in clinical-strength light therapy, with a strong foundation for continued growth.
