A spirit built for grit and precision, engineered to earn credibility without a heritage story to lean on.

The Client

About Gate 11 Distillery
Gate 11 Distillery is a craft spirits producer and experiential venue located in Chattanooga's historic Choo-Choo terminal. They produce a diverse portfolio of small-batch spirits including whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, absinthe, and agave spirits, while operating an on-site bar and distillery tour operation.
As Gate Eleven Distillery evolved into a house of brands, the opportunity emerged to create a spirit that spoke to a different audience, one aligned with grit, utility, and precision rather than heritage romanticism. The challenge was to develop a brand that felt industrial and accessible while upholding the intentional quality standards that define Gate Eleven. Gear Standard Spirits needed to stand apart from storytelling-driven premium brands without sacrificing credibility or design integrity.
Chameleon Collective partnered with Gate Eleven to concept and build Gear Standard Spirits as a distinct portfolio extension. We developed a strategy rooted in function, durability, and working-class confidence, drawing inspiration from tools, machinery, and industrial typography. The creative system was designed to scale across expressions, including vodka and rye, while maintaining visual clarity and strength.
Deliverables included brand positioning, naming architecture, visual identity, label design, messaging frameworks, packaging, and promotional collateral. The design language emphasised bold typography, structural graphics, and utilitarian simplicity engineered to translate seamlessly from shelf to back bar.
Gear Standard Spirits expanded Gate Eleven’s house of brands into a new cultural lane, offering a spirit defined by purpose rather than polish. The brand created room for a broader audience and price point while remaining anchored to intentional craft, establishing a scalable platform for continued portfolio growth.
