The Challenge

Two DTC clients needed eCommerce leadership. Type A, in the fast-growing clean deodorant space, was approaching its Series A and wanted a hands-on Director of Ecommerce and Marketing with Shopify expertise who could take on more digital marketing as the company scaled, a versatile profile in high demand and hard to land on a startup budget. Meanwhile, Algenist, a DTC skincare brand, had just lost its Director of Ecommerce and Digital Marketing, with its peak sales period in Spring 2021 fast approaching and a limited window to find a replacement.

Our Approach

Drawing on our Commerce Practice, we quickly identified promising candidates from DTC companies in transition. We focused on professionals who combined Shopify eCommerce leadership with the versatility to manage digital advertising across channels.

The Impact

Our agility and understanding of the commerce landscape made for a fast, successful recruitment process. For Type A, we sourced a capable eCommerce Director to support its growth, and for Algenist, we found a strong replacement in time for its peak sales period. We've since continued our partnership with Algenist, supporting other marketing functions.
