The Challenge
Sunbird, a startup aiming to bridge the "green bubble, blue bubble" divide between Android and iOS users, sought to create a universal messaging app to unify users across platforms. With design patents, an alpha app version, and seed funding secured, Sunbird was ready to disrupt the industry. The challenge: generate substantial buzz and drive beta sign-ups to position Sunbird as a top contender in the messaging space.
Our Approach
The Sunbird founders chose Chameleon Collective for our agile, creative capabilities to reach their ambitious initial waitlist goals. During the pitch, Casey proposed an exclusive event targeting key media, tech, and Android influencers to drive hype and conversion.
Chameleon Collective developed Sunbird’s brand identity, website, and Discord community, crafted a digital PR strategy, and designed a multi-faceted campaign aimed at full-funnel results—from building excitement to converting beta sign-ups.
We also media-trained Sunbird’s CEO for interviews, podcasts, and global video updates to keep the community engaged in anticipation of the beta release.
The Impact
Sunbird’s campaign nearly hit the 50K waitlist goal in a matter of weeks, reaching 40K sign-ups swiftly, and ultimately surpassing 60K waitlisters in under eight weeks. Sunbird successfully positioned itself as a key player in the messaging app market, effectively breaking the platform divide and drawing massive early traction, setting the stage for further growth.
