About TextExpander
TextExpander is a productivity software company offering text expansion and keyboard shortcut tools that help teams and individuals save time on repetitive typing. 8M+ work days.
TextExpander's CEO needed someone to run marketing day to day while he focused on other
priorities, chief among them recruiting a full-time VP of Marketing. Jason stepped in as interim CMO and
inherited a team operating in silos, with no common purpose, no shared sense of urgency, and no consistent message aligned with product and sales.
Jason built a three-month timeline to align the team around clear roles, responsibilities, and
priorities, and to focus daily activity on a single plan with clear messages and audiences. He developed a go-to-market strategy that put customer evidence, productivity gained through consistency and control, at the center of everything from website positioning to demand generation and qualification, using customer journeys built around TextExpander's known use cases and highest-fit verticals.
Solution: To keep the realigned team on track and set up a clean handoff, Jason built a content calendar, a RACI, and a project and task tracker, and put a designated project manager from within the team in charge of maintaining alignment and cross-team transparency. Working closely with Product and RevOps/Sales to drive more marketing qualified leads and account activation, the behavior most strongly correlated with purchase, he drafted individual OKRs for every team member to support a smooth transition once the new VP of Marketing came on board.
Early data from February showed a clear turnaround from TextExpander's Q4 dip, with March projected
to be a significantly stronger month for sales and pipeline performance. Jason handed off a realigned team, running on a shared plan and individual OKRs, to the incoming VP of Marketing at the end of March 2026.
